About / Questions & Answers
Q: Who is organizing RubyCamp?
RubyCamp is presented by the Vancouver Ruby Brigade (Vancouver.rb) and organized by Scott Patten and Gerald Bauer.
RubyCamp is a free one-day Ruby (un)conference in the historic Gastown district in downtown Vancouver, B.C. hosted at WorkSpace on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 starting at 9 o’clock. We expect from about fifty up to a hundred+ Rubyists in attendence.
RubyCamp will run on two tracks: A conference-style track with “classic” talks on Ruby topics and an unconference-style track with more informal hack-a-thons, hands-on project demos, ad-hoc coding sprints, lightning talks, and more.
Q: What’s the cost? How do I get my ticket?
We plan to offer free (as in beer) tickets. We have signed up WorkSpace as our venue sponsor offering us a discounted rate of $1000. If we can find sponsors to help us cover the venue cost plus $200 for breakfast than we will offer free tickets, otherwise we might have to ask for a $20/30 nominal fee. If you’re interested in sponsoring the RubyCamp, please contact the organizers.
Q: How do I become a RubyCamp sponsor?
Great you asked
We love sponsors. If you’re interested in sponsoring the RubyCamp, please contact the organizers.
Q: How do I sign-up for a RubyCamp conference talk?
Send your talk proposal to the organizers. The sooner you send in your talk proposal the better your chances to getting approved.
Need talk ideas? Have talk ideas? Stop at our RubyCampVancouver wiki event page.
Q: How do I sign-up for leading a more informal RubyCamp unconference-style coding sprint, hack-a-thon or hands-on project discussion?
Post some information about your Ruby project you’re interested in leading a coding sprint or hands-on informal discussion on our RubyCampVancouver wiki and send a posting to the Vancouver Ruby/Rails Mailing List/Forum to stir up some interest from fellow Rubyists.
We will have one, two or three smaller rooms avaiable at WorkSpace throughout the day. The more info you post and interest you stir up the better your chance to get a 30 minute, 1 or 2 hour room booking.
